News Years Eve 2009. In just a few hours a new beginning. I am hopeful for a positive change. Any positive change.
My wife has a brain tumor. It's not her first. She has been battling brain tumors since October 2000. Seven procedures have been performed over the last nine years. They have included 3 surgeries and 4 stereotactic radiosurgeries.
The tumor she has is called a central neurocytoma. It's considered a grade 2, benign, primary tumor.
She has been taking a pill form of chemo therapy for the last two months, seven days on and seven days off. This will continue for about another month and then she will have an MRI to see if the chemo is working.
My wife suffers from a memory problem which started after the first procedure in October 2000 and got much worse after this last surgery in August 2009.
These tumors have refused to stop coming back, sometimes one at a time and sometimes in multiples. My plan is to keep this updated on her current status while telling the story of the last nine years. In the next posting I will relate how it all started.
